As I mentioned previously, Hans Camenzind, creator of the 555 IC, passed away recently. Make has been honoring him with various posts all week that celebrate the 555. With this post, they have a great list of 555 projects you can work on this weekend. If you’re curious about electronics, this might be a good place to start and dig in!

I am getting excited about World Maker Faire! It will be my second Maker Faire, my first having been the Bay Area Maker Faire this past fall. Sad news in the electronics world. If you’ve ever started to look at a lot of basic circuits you have probably seen the 555 and its conjoined twin sibling, the 556. It is almost hard to escape learning electronics without exposure to this neat little IC. A moment of peace for the creator of a legend.

This may be the rig for the next Raspberry Pi I buy. I want to do more breadboarding and development with the Raspi. The Adafruit gang really is awesome at predicting exactly what I will need/want to keep my workstation looking good.
